Prime Big Deal Days (October 6-7): what to buy to play GTA 6

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days (called Fiesta de Ofertas Prime in Spain) run on Tuesday October 6 and Wednesday October 7, 2026: 48 hours of discounts for Prime members only. The sale lands six weeks before GTA VI launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Black Friday falls on November 27, eight days after launch, so if you want a new console, drive or controller ready for day one, this is Amazon’s last big sale before then.

Amazon does not reveal its deals until they go live, so you will not find made-up bargains here. Instead: what is worth watching, which official price to compare it with and how to tell a real discount from one that only looks like it.

What you need to take part

The deals are exclusive to Amazon Prime, which costs €4.99 a month or €49.90 a year in Spain. New accounts get a 30-day free trial.

If you only want it for the sale, start the trial a few days before and cancel it before it ends if you do not plan to keep it. Amazon has already started releasing early deals, mostly on its own devices.

Official prices to compare against

A deal is only good if it takes the product below its official price. These are the current recommended prices in Spain:

Sony raised PS5 prices on April 2, 2026 and Microsoft raised Xbox Series prices on August 1, 2026. Stores may sell above or below these figures.

What to watch, in order of priority

1. The console, if you do not have a PS5 or Xbox Series yet

GTA VI is not coming to PS4, Xbox One or PC, so this is the essential purchase if you are on the previous generation. In short:

• PS5 Digital: the balanced choice if you buy your games digitally.
• PS5 with disc drive: if you want GTA VI on disc so you can lend or resell it.
• Xbox Series S: the cheapest option, but the 512 GB model runs out of space as soon as you install a few big games.

There is no guarantee consoles will be discounted: Amazon does not announce products in advance. If you see one below its official price and sold by Amazon, it is a good time to buy.

2. An SSD for your PS5

Storage is usually among the most discounted categories in these sales, and it is the accessory you will notice most: Rockstar has not announced GTA VI’s official file size yet, but it will be a huge game and you probably do not want to delete everything else to make room.

What Sony requires to expand a PS5:

• An M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive.
• Read speeds of 5,500 MB/s or more.
• A heatsink, either pre-installed or added separately.
• Up to 8 TB of capacity.

With 1 TB you have room for GTA VI and several other games; with 2 TB you can forget about space for years.

3. A second controller

GTA sessions tend to run long, and having a second DualSense charged means you do not have to stop to plug in your controller. It is also a good idea if yours already has stick drift.

4. Headset and screen

5. What about the game?

Do not expect GTA VI to be discounted during Prime Big Deal Days: the game is not out yet and it will most likely stay at its official price. If you do see it discounted and sold by Amazon, go for it. If not, you have until November 19 to pre-order.

How to tell whether a deal is really good

1. Compare with the official price in the table, not with the crossed-out price.
2. Be wary of huge discounts. In the European Union, the crossed-out price of a discount must be the lowest price the product had in the previous 30 days. Even so, check the final figure.
3. Check who is selling it. “Sold by Amazon” is not the same as a third-party seller, and some third-party sellers list consoles above the official price.
4. Check the exact model: Digital or disc, 512 GB or 1 TB, SSD with or without heatsink. Listings look very similar.
5. Get ready in advance. Lightning deals have limited stock: add what you are interested in to your wish list so you can find it quickly when the sale starts.

Calendar until launch

If you would rather wait until November, first read whether it is worth waiting for Black Friday: the game will already be out and, if console demand spikes with the launch, stock may be hard to find during those days.
