The 2026 release calendar has left a historic coincidence: Grand Theft Auto VI will hit stores on Thursday, November 19, and just eight days later, on Friday, November 27, Black Friday 2026 will be celebrated.
This proximity generates a massive doubt among buyers: Should you buy the game on release day or is it worth waiting a week for Black Friday sales in case it drops in price?
We analyze Rockstar Games’ historical behavior, which components will have aggressive deals, and what the optimal strategy for your wallet is.
1. Will GTA VI have a discount on Black Friday?
The short and emphatic answer is no.
Expecting a price cut on GTA 6 software eight days after its worldwide release is an unrealistic expectation for three fundamental reasons:
- Rockstar’s pricing policy: Rockstar Games is the most protective studio of its titles’ value in the industry. Red Dead Redemption 2 took more than five months to see its first timid 10% discount. In the case of GTA V, the game remained at full price for practically an entire year.
- Guaranteed massive demand: Retailers only discount products when they need to stimulate inventory turnover. In the case of GTA 6, the demand will be so massive that the stores’ challenge will be to maintain stock, not liquidate it.
- Retailer margins: For AAA releases, the profit margin for retailers on physical games is around 10% to 15%. No store will sacrifice that margin on the week of the most heavily covered premiere of the decade.
The official price of €79.99 for the standard edition and €99.99 for the Ultimate will be immovable throughout the entire Black Friday and Christmas campaign.
2. What WILL drop in price: Consoles, SSDs, and Peripherals
Although the game won’t drop a single cent, Black Friday 2026 will be the best time of the year to acquire the hardware necessary to enjoy the experience (if you want it before launch, the other big date is Prime Big Deal Days on October 6-7):
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X
Console brands take advantage of Black Friday week to gain market share. In previous years we have seen discounts of between €30 and €50 on the PS5 Slim, placing it around €399 in the digital version. If you don’t yet have a next-gen console, keeping an eye on early November promotions can save you a significant amount.
M.2 NVMe SSD Drives with Heatsink
Console storage is one of the segments with the biggest discounts on Black Friday. With GTA 6 demanding more than 150 GB of free space, leading drives like the WD_BLACK SN850X or the Samsung 990 Pro usually reach their historic lows with discounts of up to 25-30%.
4K TVs and Soundbars
If you play in the living room, mid-to-high-end OLED and QLED TVs usually receive the most aggressive discounts of the tech year in the days leading up to November 27.
3. The danger of waiting: The end of the pre-order bonus
Waiting for Black Friday to buy your copy of GTA 6 has a direct disadvantage: you will lose the exclusive pre-order content.
Take-Two and Rockstar Games have confirmed that the Vintage Vice City Pack (classic vehicles, customized weapons, and cosmetic bonuses) will only be available for purchases made before November 20, 2026.
If you wait until November 27 to acquire the game, you will pay exactly the same €79.99 but you will have permanently lost the launch welcome pack.
4. The recommended strategy to save the most
To avoid missing out on pre-order bonuses while also taking advantage of November discounts, this is the smart roadmap:
