How much will GTA 6 cost on PC and when will it go on sale?

Estimated prices of GTA VI on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and Rockstar Launcher), expected launch window, and warnings about fake pre-orders.

By GTA 6 Price Editorial Team Published on Updated on

One of the most repeated questions by the computer gaming community is how much Grand Theft Auto VI will cost on PC and when it will be available for purchase. While PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users already know the official date (November 19, 2026) and the confirmed prices (€79.99 for the standard edition and €99.99 for the Ultimate), PC players face a different scenario.

Below we analyze Rockstar Games’ historical pricing strategy, the planned digital distribution platforms, and what you should expect regarding the launch cost on computer.

Official status: confirmed

Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have reiterated in their financial reports that GTA VI does not currently have an announced PC version.

This does not mean that the game will not come to computers, but that the company faithfully follows the commercial strategy it has used with almost all its major releases over the last twenty years:

  1. Phase 1 (Consoles): Exclusive premiere on next-generation consoles to maximize hardware and software sales.
  2. Phase 2 (PC): Announcement and launch of an optimized version for computer between 12 and 18 months after the arrival on consoles.

Estimated price of GTA 6 on PC: Will it keep the €79.99 of console or will there be variation?

With the official price of the console versions already confirmed at €79.99 for the Standard Edition, the unknown moves to the computer version. Historically, PC games used to be sold at a price between €10 and €20 lower than their console counterparts due to the absence of license fees from manufacturers like Sony or Microsoft. However, the video game industry has progressively equalized prices in large-budget releases.

  • Standard Edition on PC (Reasoned estimate: €79.99): It is expected that Rockstar will maintain the same base price of €79.99 as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, offering the complete campaign and access to the online multiplayer experience.
  • Ultimate Edition on PC (Reasoned estimate: €99.99): It will include the same exclusive vehicles, weapon packs, businesses in Leonida, and cosmetic improvements as the console version.
  • Digital upgrade: As on consoles, it is very likely that upgrading from the standard edition to the Ultimate will be allowed at any time for a €20 difference.

PC distribution platforms

When Rockstar announces the version for computers, commercialization will be channeled through several platforms:

1. Rockstar Games Launcher

It will be the company’s priority store. Buying directly through Rockstar’s application allows developers to keep 100% of the revenue from each copy sold without third-party commissions. It usually includes additional pre-order benefits, such as in-game currency bonuses for online play or classic titles as gifts.

2. Steam (Valve)

The market-leading platform on PC. In the case of Red Dead Redemption 2, the game took an additional month to arrive on Steam after its exclusive debut on Rockstar’s proprietary launcher. It is foreseeable that GTA VI will end up being available on Steam, although it will always require an active and linked Rockstar Games Social Club account to run.

3. Epic Games Store

Epic Games maintains a solid commercial relationship with Take-Two (as demonstrated by the free distribution of GTA V in 2020 that collapsed their servers). It is very likely that it will be available from the first day of the PC premiere.

Beware of scams and fake pre-order sites

Due to the enormous expectation generated by the title, unauthorized digital key sales portals proliferate on the internet claiming to sell “GTA 6 PC pre-order keys on Steam” at reduced prices of €40 or €50.

[!WARNING] Do not fall for fraudulent pre-orders: Rockstar Games has not generated or distributed any digital keys for GTA VI on PC to any retail distributor. Any payment made on these pages is a direct fraud risk or an improper retention of money with no guarantee of delivery.

Hardware requirements and PC equipment cost

If you are saving up to play GTA 6 on your computer when the PC version is finally launched, you should keep in mind that the game will demand modern and powerful components:

  • Minimum: A 6-core processor (e.g. AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i5-10400), 16 GB of RAM, and a graphics card equivalent to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 with at least 8 GB of VRAM.
  • Recommended for 1080p 60 FPS: 8-core CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT GPU.
  • Mandatory SSD: The game will mandatorily require a fast NVMe SSD storage drive to load Vice City’s high-resolution textures in real time.
